Feature Profile: Joe Dunbar
Dunbar is a new graduate from UTK, where he majored in business analytics & statistics with a supply chain management collateral. This fall, he will attend Undergraduate Pilot Training for the Air Force. At CTR, he is a marketing/outreach intern with our teen outreach program #GetConvinced. He currently assists with program refinement, event preparation and management, as well as teen driving/pedestrian safety research.
Joe Dunbar has been an undergraduate research assistant with CTR since early November of 2023. During his time here he has helped prepare for and run several school events for the #GetConvinced program, and has utilized his skills in business to organize and improve storage and other systems around the office.

Alex Bright
RESEARCH INTERESTS
Bright is a sophomore majoring in Cinema Studies. He is currently a videography intern for CTR’s #GetConvinced teen driving safety program. He will create instructional and educational videos for peer-to-peer, partner, and online use.

Elizabeth Duty
RESEARCH INTERESTS
Duty is a senior in Biomedical Engineering at UTK. She is a CTR intern working under Dr. Jerry Everett to research current STEM activities that are used by students in middle and high school. This will help to create a new STEM problem-based learning activity that corresponds to the school curriculum in the future.

Henry Hodge
RESEARCH INTERESTS
Hodge is a senior at UTK studying Computer Science. In his work here he is focusing on artificial intelligence and autonomous driving, researching the potential applications and implications of a fully autonomous transportation system. He is looking forward to travelling after he graduates before finding a job in AI research.

Sophia Jodoin
RESEARCH INTERESTS
Jodoin is currently a Senior at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, studying Sustainability and Geography. She is assisting in TEAM-TN’s engine development research to provide a more equitable mobility ecosystem in the state of Tennessee through an NSF-funded grant. She is working to provide a social science background to the equity side of the TEAM-TN engine initiative.

LaFetra is a Survey Design Intern for TN Vans. She will assist in developing a client survey to gauge interest in alternatively fueled vehicles.

Savannah Patel
RESEARCH INTERESTS
Savannah Patel is a junior majoring in marketing at the University of Tennessee Knoxville. She is an intern working to find local sponsors for the #GetConvinced program. In addition to this, she provides support in the program’s teen highway safety at events at East Tennessee high schools.

RESEARCH INTERESTS
Squires is a junior at UTK, majoring in Computer Science and Mathematics. At CTR, he is working on transitioning and developing code for route-planning last-mile delivery systems integrated with drones under Dr. Marcella Kaplan. For the future, he is hoping to work in the field of software development, with a potential bias towards mathematics or physics

Alexis Sullivan is a second-year mechanical engineering major. As a CTR student intern, she is working under Jerry Everett to research current STEM kits for kids based around transportation technologies to later assist in developing a kit or lesson for CTR.

RESEARCH INTERESTS
Jackson is a rising senior studying Computer Science with a minor in Machine Learning. He researches autonomous vehicle technology with a focus on the components that involve deep learning for computer vision under Dr. Marcella Kaplan. His goal is to orient his career toward deep learning applications that enable automated decision-making.

Szaviea Wynn is a senior studying Sociology and English at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. As an Equity Research intern, she is working under Jerry Everett to strategize, develop, and execute research regarding equity considerations in transportation studies.
