CTR Student Researcher Awarded 2026-27 Goldwater Scholarship
We are proud to celebrate CTR undergraduate research assistant Samuel Barbour for being awarded the prestigious Goldwater Scholarship for the 2026-2027 academic year. Selected from a pool of nearly 1,500 nominees nationwide, Samuel is recognized for his exceptional promise in STEM research and his dedication to the future of civil engineering.
Goldwater Scholarship Awardees each receive up to $7,500 annually to cover tuition, fees, books, and room and board. Including the 2026 recipients, 35 UT have students have been named Goldwater Scholars since 2010. The scholarship will support Barbour’s journey to postgraduate research in civil engineering with a focus on developing intelligent transportation systems for safer, faster and more efficient transportation.
Samuel’s success is a testament to his hard work and the strength of the undergraduate research community at the University of Tennessee. Please join us in congratulating Sam on this incredible achievement and his ongoing contributions to the field of transportation research.
