Jason Ivey

Deputy Director, THSO

Jason Ivey joined the Tennessee Highway Safety Office (THSO) in March of 2000. He served as a Program Manager until 2007, Program Management Administrator from 2007 until 2016, Interim Director for nine months leading the transition of the office from the Tennessee Department of Transportation to the Department of Safety and Homeland Security in 2016, and Deputy Director from November 2016 until now. This position, under the guidance of the THSO Director, leads a staff of 25 who are tasked with changing driver behavior with a goal of reducing Tennessee’s traffic fatalities and injuries. He is the State Coordinator for the Impaired Driving Program and leads an approximate 30-member Impaired Driving Advisory Council which has been in existence for over a decade. Additionally, since FFY2023, he has served as the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Region 4 Regional Representative on the Governors Highway Safety Association’s national board, which serves the five-state region of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee. He received his Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and Master of Science in Management from Austin Peay State University.
