Dr. Katherine Asmussen

Research Assistant Professor, CTR

Dr. Katie Asmussen is an Assistant Research Professor with CTR and the University of Tennessee-Oak Ridge Innovation Institute (UT-ORII). Dr. Asmussen’s research focuses on the social and environmental dimensions of transportation, the planning implications of emerging mobility options and technologies, and the use of data science and predictive analytics. She also works on travel behavior and decision-making analysis, activity-based travel demand modeling, transportation economics, choice modeling, survey design, and integrated land use–transportation planning.
Dr. Asmussen completed her Ph.D. in Transportation Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 2024. She also received her M.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 2020 and earned her B.S. in Civil Engineering at the University of Virginia in 2018.
