TN Vans Had a Busy Spring 2024
Three Mid-Roof 15-passenger Transits and a Chevy Equinox were delivered through the TN Vans Program. The Chevy Equinox went to the TN Children’s Home location in Knoxville and will allow staff to travel to their other TN Children’s Home locations across the state. One Mid-Roof Transit was delivered to TN Be Trew in Memphis. Be Trew works with teens in educational programs and activities, such as visiting the elderly to give them baskets and gifts. Another Mid-Roof Transit was delivered to White Stone Church in Knoxville for various church and community service activities, such as their support of KARM, Water Angels Ministry, and Foster Care Trailier. The third Mid-Roof was delivered in July to Gracefully Empowering Mental Health in Society (GEMS) based in Memphis to provide transportation options to those who may not have other mobility options.
Six Chrysler Pacifica minivans and one Transit Connect (minivan-type vehicle) have arrived. The University is signing contracts for these vehicles and plans to deliver them in July. Fourteen additional vehicles, including two 12-passenger Ford Transits, one Chrysler Pacifica, and eleven 15-passenger Ford Transits, are en route to the University. Once the vehicles arrive, one will go to Chattanooga, two to Nashville, one to Knoxville, one to Maryville, and the rest to West Tennessee.
This Spring, TN Vans received requests for additional 15-passenger vehicles from nonprofits. These vehicles will be added to our order for 2025, which will be generated by September. These vehicles will serve groups, including Wesley House Community Center, who provide high-quality, affordable, and accessible childcare, social connections in the senior citizen population, and the emerging needs in their Knoxville service area, and Centro Hispano which links Spanish-speaking families to health, legal, educational and medical resources, plus offers support navigating food security issues and other vital information. TN Vans continually assesses the vehicle needs of our current nonprofits and new potential program participants.
